How to use?

All you need to do as a user is press play and enjoy the music. Like a radio station, the player will play apparently random music. But unlike your radio you can train the Evolution Player to play the music you like. To do so, vote when you like a piece of music, and vote if you don't like it: Just click on one of the smilies.

Please be aware, that it may take a while until the player starts downloading new songs, be patient.

Why Evolution?

All players build a network: A network of taste. Inside the network music which is highly rated will be distributed faster. Music which is not will not be distributed, this music will die.

But like in real evolution, not only the strongest will survive. If a style of music finds enough fans then it will not die, even if a majority does not like the style. The music will find a habitat it can life in. The result of the evolution will therefore not be a common, average, boring, made-by-managers taste like you hear on radio. No, there will be as many tastes as users.

The thing about this player that is different from evolution is, that a piece of music does not mutate, it does not change. This is still the job of the artists.

How does it work?

When you vote for a song the song gets uploaded to other users. If another user votes for the same song then your client can determine how different your taste is from the taste of the other user. The closer your tastes the more likely it is that your client will download a new song from the other user.

Is this legal?!

Yes, this is legal. The network only shares music which is licensed under Creative Commons. Songs which are licensed under Creative Commons can be shared freely under certain conditions.

What happens to your personal data?

We don't store your personal data anywhere. You don't need to register with us. We don't create a profile for you. We don't Spam you. We don't know who you are, and we don't care. Only your Internet provider knows who you are.

In order for the network to work it is essential, that other clients know how you voted. They retrieve this information from your client. But it is not possible for them to connect this information with your real name, only your Internet provider can do that.
